Santa Cruz, the largest state in Bolivia, is located in the eastern region of the country. Over 2.6 million people live in the State of Santa Cruz, in modern cities and traditional towns and villages. There are places of scenic beauty and areas that are home to our natural and cultural heritage. In terms of biodiversity we have 2525 species of vertebrates, of which 816 are fish, 146 are amphibians, 235 are reptiles, 1013 are birds, and 315 are mammals. We have 35 landscape systems, 231 vegetation series, and 112 ecosystems. In the State of Santa Cruz there are 30 protected areas and 35 private natural heritage reserves. Get to know our Santa Cruz!
