Information on tourist visas for US citizens

I am a US citizen and will in a tour that will go to Bolivia in 2 days. Do I still need a visa and pay $135.00?

Yes. Your tour operator should have notified you that anyone in your group that is a US citizen will need a tourist visa. If you have not applied for one prior to arrival (which is what the law states US citizens must do) your group will be issued visas upon entry. The cost is $135.00 per person.

Immigration officials have noticed how many US citizens are still arriving to Bolivia without a visa, even though this law has been in effect for several years now and they are still making the exception of issuing their visas upon arrival, either at the border or at the airport, but there is no telling how much longer they will continue to make this exception. So your tour operator should be made aware of this.
