A "resort" that mainly caters to Brazilians crossing the river for some "cheap" entertainment, Itauba "Eco-Resort" is a nice "get-away." It is located on the edge of town and a moto-kar (3-person) taxi will charge 10-15bs to take you there. Mototaxis (1 person) will take you for 5 bs. Rooms (about $25 for a couple) are located in small chalets and can accommodate anyone from single travelers to families. Rooms are air-conditioned, have small refrigerators, private bathrooms, hot water, and TV. There is a very attractive main dining area where breakfast is served (included in the price of the room - seasonal fresh fruits, typical breads, jams, butter, coffee, juice, and hot chocolate). The dining area is open-air and under a thatch style roof. It is on the shore of a small lake where you can swim or canoe. There are several resident macaws who are quite friendly. There are also toucans, other types of parrots, and several other local animals on-site. You can also enjoy the beach volleyball court and picnic area. Staff is very friendly and helpful and speaks both Spanish and Portuguese. Tel: 591-3-8553514
