This is my second trip to Santa Cruz and I decided to sample three different steakhouse: Don Miguel, Los Lomitos, and Los Hierros. I wanted to sample Corralitos and Choza de Dorys but ran out of time.
All three that I did sample were excellent in their own way. Each presented well prepared food, but I have to give my 1st place to Los Hierros. The atmosphere is warmer and more elegant than the other two and the service is much better. Also, it was the only one that prepared my meat exactly as I requested (medium rare with plenty of juice (blood), which in most South American countries is hard to describe, and the meat invariably comes overcooked with just a hint of pink.)
Los Hierros is also conveniently located around the corner from the Hotel Cortez, which is a very comfortable place to stay while in Santa Cruz.
