Health Alert: U.S. Embassy La Paz, Bolivia, April 30, 2020. Location: Bolivia. Event: New Quarantine Measures in Bolivia. On April 29, the Bolivian government announced an extension of the strict national quarantine measures through May 10, 2020, a lessening of quarantine measures in some areas of the country as of May 11, and suspension of domestic and international flights and borders until at least May 31. In addition, classes and public events remain suspended, and social distancing and use of masks in public places remain obligatory until the end of May throughout the country.
From May 11, a "dynamic quarantine" will be implemented in some areas, lifting some restrictions on movement and working hours for parts of the country determined to be at medium and low risk for transmission of the virus. Additionally, the delivery of food and other commercial goods will be permitted seven days per week from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm and industry, manufacturing, construction, mining and hotels will be permitted to operate. Exactly where restrictions will be lifted has not yet been announced.
U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR) in Bolivia who seek travel assistance to fill out a
U.S. Embassy Repatriation Form to allow the Embassy to assist you if options become available. A form should be filled out for each member of a family or group requesting assistance. If you have already filled out a Repatriation Form for U.S. Embassy La Paz, it is not necessary to do so again.
Repatriation flights departed Bolivia for the United States on March 28, April 2, April 21, and April 29. There are no additional special repatriation flights currently contemplated.
